Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Dominic Solanke injured his knee in training, increasing Tottenham’s injury concerns.

Striker Solanke will miss Sunday’s visit to Everton in the Premier League after “twisting his knee” while shooting, but manager Postecoglou said the club were still unsure of the “scale” of the problem.

Winger Brennan Johnson and midfielder Yves Bissouma were also absent at Goodison Park, bringing Spurs’ absent players to 10 – including Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Wilson Odobert and Timo Werner.

Postecoglou told Sky Sports: “Brennan and Bissouma took knocks against Arsenal. Biss isn’t too bad. Brennan, probably a bit more significant.

“And then, yeah, Dom just started training and kind of twisted his knee trying to shoot and he missed today. We are not sure of its magnitude.

“It’s always a big blow when you lose key players for any club, and, obviously, in the situation we find ourselves in, that’s further illustrated by, you know, the fact that we haven’t not really the depth needed to cover the issue at the moment level, but that doesn’t matter. We have 11 fit players, and that’s what you need to start a match.

Ben Davies will make his first appearance since early December after recovering from a hamstring problem, coming in at central defense with Archie Gray playing in a young midfield alongside compatriot Lucas Bergvall, 18, and Pape Matar Sarr, 22 years old.

When asked what his team would look like against Everton, Postecoglou said: “No idea. We’ll take a look. I had 11 fit players and those I put in there.

“It’s great to have Ben back. [He’s] He’s probably not ready for another 90 minutes, so it’s about trying to manage his time as well, but it’s good to get him back. He is an experienced player. We’re going to need his experience today.

Postecoglou added: “We want to play our football, be aggressive and, you know, we want to eliminate that mindset. We will need that today against a good Everton team.”
